SERVICE CARRIED OUT BY CHAIRMAN ROBERT McCARTNEY OF BEYOND THE BATTLEFIELD
Remembrance Service at Newtownards Cenotaph Saturday 9th April 2016 to Commemorate the 75th Anniversary of 13 soldiers of the 70th Battalion Junior Soldiers, The Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers. Thirteen men where killied by the Luftwaffe, whilst carrying out their guard duty in Newtownards Air Field. The youngest of these men was 16 years old and the eldest, an Instructor, was 33 years old.
One year after this incident the Junior Soldiers Battalion where dispanded therefore, these boys endured carrying out a mans job and died with honour carrying out their duty.
