BEYOND THE BATTLEFIELD SHARING PARCELS FOR THE HOMELESS
Beyond the Battlefield had been provided with parcels for their homeless veterans. These where kindly brought to us by a friend of the Charity Colin Reid from Straight Blast Gym Arthur St Belfast, given to him by a very generous lady Mona McConnell. After distributing what we needed, we passed the rest on to Ian Shanks (pictured above) from TeamHOT, part of the outreach team who go around Belfast offering their services to the homeless. Some of the parcels that we had given Ian and his team will be passed on to various hostels and homeless people around Belfast. We are so grateful to Ian and Gary coming to collect these as each bag holds many useful items such as a hat,scarf,gloves, tea, coffee,washing kit, biscuits and edibles and of course a Christmas card so that no one feels forgotten. It was amazing speaking Ian from TeamHOT just to realise the enormity of the homelessness throughout our province. At Beyond the Battlefield we are all too aware of the numbers of Homeless Veterans but speaking with Ian made me realise how many men, women and very young children are actually homeless on our streets and surrounding areas. The amazing thing about Ian and his team is that these Hostels and individuals they visit are not just homeless at Chritmas, what an amazing job they do 365!!!
