Alderman Deborah Girvan, Mayor of Ards and the North Down Borough hosted a lovely afternoon at Bangor Castle for Beyond the Battlefield and their Hero Legion D`Honneur Medals. Eddie Spence, John Henning and George Thompson where the three men presented with this medal for Excellent Military Conduct, it is the equivalent to a French Knighthood. Having been approached by the families of these veterans Robert McCartney Chairman & Counselor of Beyond the Battlefield went to great lengths over a long period of time to ensure these brave veterans received this French Order for Excellent Military Conduct. The Mayor also enjoyed her afternoon with these true Heroes and indeed great gentlemen.
