The project funded is for Addressing PTSD during Covid-19.
This is a continuing programme for veterans suffering from PTSD. Due to the Covid-19 Pandemic the Organisation is at capacity to deal with increased demand upon Services, especially Counselling being offered by Zoom, Skype and telephone. Veterans are self-medicating at approx. a rate of 30% increase from beginning of lock down until now. We need to fill the gap for increased demand upon services, mostly counselling now. We are also dealing with an increased number of family break ups. Due to further anxieties of Covid we are dealing with many attempted suicides. The Organisation has endorsed keeping active, staying connected, eating well and using structure as part of a daily routine and feeling involved with others and indeed helping others.
Alcohol and drugs are too accessible at the moment, easily taken at home, anxiety, hypervigilance and nervous disorders are all at the fore. Some clients have relapsed with the comorbidities of PTSD; hence structure is required during lockdown to stay connected and make informed choices about recovery. Due to this funding we are confident with vast experience, we can offer a coordinated counselling service to change lives.
